At Baken Akademie, academic excellence and quality of life are equally valued. We provide an environment where each learner is nurtured and supported to reach their full potential. Our Christian, value-driven teaching focuses on respect, community involvement, and personal growth, giving learners the space to flourish and develop a positive self-image.

While Baken Akademie are CAPS compliant we offer considerable academic enrichment. The English Primary school runs parallel to the Afrikaans school and offers the extensive SwitchedOn curriculum exclusively. This pathway eventually leads to the American Advanced High School Diploma in the College.

Foundation Phase (Grades R to 3)

​

Our Foundation Phase lays the groundwork for future academic and personal success by focusing on early learning and social development. Small, intimate classes ensure that each child receives individual attention. Our dedicated teachers create a loving and safe learning environment where children are encouraged to ask questions, show curiosity, and learn confidently.

This phase introduces learners to basic academic and social skills, strengthening their confidence and self-esteem. Through playful learning and interactive activities, a solid foundation is built for academic achievement and lifelong learning.

From Grade 3, the implementation of technology in the daily class escalates to enable full utilisation by the time Grade 4 commences.

Senior Primary Phase (Grades 4 to 7)

Our Senior Primary Phase follows a mastery-based teaching approach that helps learners grasp core concepts and consolidate academic skills. Small classes enable teachers to get to know each child and support their academic and emotional needs. Our environment of friendly, non-judgemental acceptance contributes to the emotional well-being of learners, building their confidence and positive self-image.

Through our Biblical programme, we also offer social and emotional programmes to help learners develop confidence, empathy, and the ability to form strong, meaningful relationships. These programmes equip learners with essential life skills, enabling them to face challenges with resilience and self-assurance.

Academic and Extracurricular Programmes

At Baken Akademie, we believe in a balanced approach to learning and development. Our extracurricular programme offers a variety of activities to further develop learners' talents and interests:

Sports and Physical Activities:

• Terms One and Four: Swimming, mini-tennis, and cross-country.

• Term Two: Netball and football.

• Term Three: Table tennis, volleyball, and athletics.

• Term Four: Swimming, mini-tennis, and cross-country.

Culture and Creativity:

• Drama and art are offered throughout the year, allowing learners to express their creativity and build confidence.

Intellectual Activities:

• Chess, coding, and other cognitive development activities are provided to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
